The offical launch of Mission Motorsport, a new venture designed to provide rehabilitation opportunities to service personnel affected by military operations will take place at Thruxton Circuit on Thursday 1st March.
Formed by a dedicated group of serving soldiers, officers and motorsport professionals; Mission Motorsport’s aim is to use the competitive nature of motorsport to inspire and rebuild confidence, develop skills and ensure that soldiers who are learning to cope with a disability gain a greater degree of independence through working in different and testing environments.
Following a very successful year in 2011 establishing the principle, Mission Motorsport has been officially appointed as the British Army’s provider of adaptive motorsport. The new organisation will work with the Defence Recovery Capability, Help for Heroes, Battleback and the veterans of the Band of Brothers to deliver stimulating, constructive and competitive activities ranging from high level racing to educational programs and vocational opportunities in partnership with the UK’s automotive industry.
