New Britcar challenge for Team Bullrun

Team Bullrun Seat Cupra

2010 Britcar Production Champions, Richard Adams and David Green, are looking to make it a historic treble of back-to-back wins in different classes in the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship this year.

Adams and Green previously won the Production Class 3 title in ‘09 with a Honda Civic, and the Class 2 title and Overall Production Championship in 2010 with their Seat Cupra. The duo, now joined by third driver Martin Byford, is now stepping up to take on the GT title in their newly acquired Cavallino Motorsport prepared Ferrari 360.

Richard Adams, commenting on the Britcar website, said “we had always thought about a move up to GT but were waiting for the right time – having managed to pick up two titles in two seasons in the Production Championship, we were looking for a new challenge – when Britcar announced that they had secured MSA accreditation for the coming season, the decision for us as drivers at least, was a relatively easy one. We then had to pull on all the resources we could to ensure that we had the right car, pit crew and support package. We are obviously very grateful to Bullrun for their significant and continued support and Oval Insurance as new sponsors to give us a chance of a treble of wins! We are also very excited about Martin Byford joining the driving team and joining forces with Neil Cooke at Cavallino’s as well as looking forward to a lot of fun and rivalry with the MJC team.

Having only taken delivery of the car this week, we have a lot to do in a relatively short period of time but with a bit of luck we expect to be able to complete our pre-season testing programme in time for the Britcar Championship Launch at Silverstone on 10 March 2011”.

Britcar: Disaster for BPM Racing

BPM Racing Seat

The Britcar series is reporting that Production category front runners BPM Racing have suffered a disastrous setback over the weekend when a fire destroyed their facilities in Northampton. The BPM Racing team of Owen Thomas and Ashley Woodman had been campaigning a new Seat Leon in 2010. Sadly their participation in the 2011 series is now in doubt.

Quoted on the Britcar site Owen Thomas said:

It’s devastating really, the whole complex that includes our unit was completely destroyed. The Fire Brigade are investigating, but asbestos is causing problems with site access. We’ve lost the lot – car, trailer, lorry, all the kit/spares/tools etc. We’re talking to the insurers at the moment, but the start of the season, or indeed any of this season is looking rather iffy to say the least. –  It was a major fire, with around a dozen fire engines on the scene”.
