As Caterham’s new 300bhp SP/300.R sports prototype nears completion, customers are getting the chance to put the new car through its paces for the first time this Thursday, 1st March.
Caterham’s supercharged racer was created in partnership with Lola Cars. With the SP/300.R, Caterham aims to replicate the company’s core motorsport values of affordability, reliability and accessibility.
Prospective customers, and those who have already paid deposits, will be able to try the SP/300.R for the first time at Rockingham Motor Speedway this Thursday, just a few days after Caterham F1 driver, Heikki Kovalainen, gave it a shakedown in Jerez, Spain, during a pre-season Formula 1 test.
Kovalainen, said: “The SPR is very quick and a little like a formula car in that I could feel the downforce working and giving it lots of grip and balance.”
Simon Lambert, Caterham Motorsport Manager, said: “We can’t wait to see how our customers react to the SP/300.R, it’s a real thrill to drive and very engaging so we know they’ll love it.
“These coming weeks are the culmination of a massive effort from a big team of people and we are very close to achieving our objective, so it’s very exciting for everybody involved. Over the coming months, there will be numerous opportunities for people to experience the SP/300.R.”
